Enrollment Assistance

Navigation Help to Access Insurance and Medical Care

SLO County Public Health offers free Health Care Navigation Services for Medi-Cal, the Medically Indigent Services Program (MISP) and Covered CA. Services include:
  • Determining eligibility and guiding the application process
  • Helping find a doctor
  • Answering questions about a medical bill
  • Redetermining eligibility for those who currently have Medi-Cal
  • Locating a DSS caseworker
  • Distributing free COVID tests

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Covered CA enrollment is at www.coveredca.com. Free local, bilingual insurance agents can enroll people in Covered CA and help them determine which plan is best for them. A list can be found here.

The Access Support Network, Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, and the Public Health Department (see above) are certified enrollment counselors and can help with Medi-Cal and Covered CA applications at no cost.

Health Access for Young Children

SLO County Help Me Grow (SLO HMG) provides support navigating and accessing health care services for young children. Services are free for any child ages birth through 5 years old who is a SLO County resident. Call 805-440-1878 or visit https://slohelpmegrow.org/

Contact an advocate or staff member at a Family Resource Center for support with non-medical needs such as food, clothing, shelter, parent education and navigating social services.
